With summer practically here, I’m looking to do some day trips with my teen daughter. Last summer we took a BIG trip – a 12-day train trip through Europe. This summer, as I continue building my freelance writing business, we’re going much more low key with some day trips to different places throughout Ontario.
Since most of my Ontario road trips have been to places northwest of Toronto, I’m looking to mix things up a bit and venture out of my familiar zone to discover more of this gorgeous province.
Where should we go?
In the past we have covered Lake Huron, from Bayfield all the way up to Tobermory and over to Flowerpot Island. If you’ve been with me for a while, you know about my love for Port Elgin and Southampton. We’ve also explored the Scenic Caves in Collingwood, the pretty town of Stratford, the Niagara region and Ottawa.
I’d like to visit Prince Edward County, Sandbanks Beach and Long Point Provincial Park. I’ve heard Coburg is a must-see.
Where would you suggest? My only requirement is that the destination be no longer than three hours’ drive from Mississauga so we can go, enjoy the day and be back in the evening. We love beaches, sunsets, small towns and markets, the countryside and parks, but are pretty much open to anything!
Let me know your suggestions in the comments and I’ll let you know if we take you up on your recommendations. And then look for future posts on where we end up going.
This summer is going to be fun!
